Three Geosystems Faculty Co-teach new Course on "Infrastructure Sensing and Modeling"

Kenichi Soga, Dimitrios Zekkos and Robert Kayen established and jointly teach a new upper-level undergraduate course on "Infrastructure Sensing and Modeling." CE170A is taught this semester and introduces students to a wide range of smart cities, monitoring and modeling. It has a transportation modeling module, a 3d modeling module using drones, a Seismic Geophysics module and a wireless sensing module. In addition, the course is bringing speakers from more than twenty tech startups in the field of construction and infrastructure. The course enrollment maxed out at 40 students, with a number of graduate geotechnical students also enrolling.
